Differentiate between the following

, , No Comments

(i) Key frame animation and Cel animation

Frame-by-frame animation involves drawing a new image for each frame.

Tween animation means transforming an entire element over a period of time, puppet-style.

A cel, short for celluloid, is a transparent sheet on which objects are drawn or painted for traditional, hand-drawn animation.

Both types of animation can be combined, but people tend to stick to one for the sake of ease.

(ii) Analog and Digital Sound

Analog and digital signals are used to transmit information, usually through electric signals. ... The difference between analog and digitaltechnologies is that in analog technology, information is translated into electric pulses of varying amplitude.

(iii) Hypermedia and hypertext

What is HyperText and HyperMedia?

Hypertext is a text which contains links to other texts. The term was invented by Ted Nelson around 1965.

Hypertext is therefore usually non-linear (as indicated below).

Definition of Hypertext

HyperMedia is not constrained to be text-based. It can include other media, e.g., graphics, images, and especially the continuous media - sound and video. Apparently, Ted Nelson was also the first to use this term.

Definition of HyperMedia

The World Wide Web (WWW) is the best example of hypermedia applications.

(iv) Painting tools and drawing tools

The word "painting" normally refers to a "bitmap" image. This is a graphic made up of many tiny colored squares called "bits" which are "mapped" on a background to give the illusion of "continuous tone" shadings, such as those seen in a photograph. These images are also often referred to as "raster" graphics.

With a "drawing" program, on the other hand, one normally creates images by establishing points that are connected by straight or curved lines, resulting in shapes such as a rectangle or an oval. The shapes can then be filled with colors resulting in, say, a red heart or a green shamrock. Many of the cartoon-style "clipart" drawings found on the Web are considered drawings rather than paintings. These drawings are also often referred to as "vector" graphics.
